Press: Featured Minds Editorial in majestic disorder magazine

Featuring styled pieces by:

Amilita

When I was first approached by majestic disorder magazine for a write up in their "Featured Minds" editorial, I was honored and beyond stoked. This is only Issue 2 of the UK arts + culture quarterly but their aesthetic, ethos and literary intrigue are that of a seasoned publication. To be featured alongside writers, performance artists, designers and political activists, I was humbled and grateful to get to share my insights, lifestyle and creative space showcasing my favorite Byron Bay designers. Not to mention the photos were shot by one of my best friends and artist sisters, Carly Brown! Who better to visually transcribe my creative message?! Beyond grateful for this opportunity.

majestic disorder is distributed Internationally so make sure to grab a copy of this incredible magazine available at Anthropologie as well as newsagents around the world.

You can also order the magazine online here and here both of which ship internationally.

Wander To Sea // Pay It Forward Contest x Fitness First Australia

INVERSION.

It's a love hate practice for me. I love the sensation of being upside down, feeling the blood circulate in a new way and waking up every cell in my body. But my perfectionist side wants to nail a 10 second handstand every single time, which is a bit out of reach for me at the moment. The most difficult thing about inversion is how inconsistent my results are -- some days, I'm spot on and can nail dolphin on my first try and hold it for what feels like an eternity. Other days, I can't even hold a handstand for one breath. But it's the practice that matters. It's the "FAILURE" that leads to a lesson learned. Because with every attempt and every kick up I am learning to listen to my body as it feels in that moment, to breathe into the posture of that moment and let go of any attachment to outcome or result. My goal is to someday hold a 10 second handstand, but my focus is to learn from the process until I can.

My best friend Monique of the blog Wander To Sea is one of my greatest inspirations in inversion and adventure. She just finished a journey driving across America with friends, celebrating her yoga practice and capturing the beauty of her travels along the way. In my eyes, she is a master of inversion, and has been incredibly dedicated to her practice for the last year or so. I have seen her grow so quickly, both upside down and right side up with her bravery on the road and "nothing is impossible" attitude towards life. I watch her instagram videos holding 15 second+ handstands with the Rocky Mountains behind her and think -- this is what life is all about: limitless exploration of the body and the planet. Pushing the boundaries of what is possible, what we can do and what we can see in this lifetime. With a heart of gold and an infectious energy, she captivates all around her and includes them on her journey no matter where they are in their own personal growth. I look up to Monique in so many ways and she constantly inspires me to push myself in my yoga practice as well as in my approach to travel and adventure.
