I'm so excited to partner with Fitness First Australia on this giveaway perfect for an impromptu adventure or to motivate some major endorphin bliss :) For me, that comes in the form of a carefree surf session, when sliding down the face of a wave feels like an exhilarating dance with the sea. It can also be waking up at sunrise, laying out my yoga mat and doing sun salutations to prepare my mind and muscles for the day. My favorite though, is combining it all and throwing some bikinis, running shoes and camping gear in a weekender and hitting the road for an unexpected adventure in the outdoors.     2014 HEALTH AND WELLNESS GOAL: TO GET FITTER!! well before i start im fifteen, so im still at school and i'll be honest to say i not the sportiest kid in my class and i want to be fitter so it looks like i actually do something with my life other than read fabulous blogs like so and so i have a healthier body and clearer mind.Each day of the week I'm going to do a 20min workout focusing on a different part of my body and then on sundays I'm always going to sign up for a one hour yoga session at our local yoga place :) I'm also learning to surf so that will also help :)

    I also want to get more social and and get out and meet more people. Last year i spent my days away from people, at lunchtime i would sit by myself or with very few people. I kept telling myself this was ok, i was just an introvert. people accepted this but i don't think i ever did when i did try to socialise it wasn't like people excluded me or rejected me but you could tell i wasn't really "in". This led to me believing people didn't like me and they didn't want to be friends which really wasn't a good mind set. But this was all in my head, and this year it's leaving >:) At the end of the day the only thing stopping yourself is yourself :) so heres to 2014 :D

    1. Ah! Kyra thank you so much for your entry. Being confident in your own skin is something that takes a long time for most, so be patient with yourself. I honor your journey and your desire to make a true change for the best..just make sure that change is for you and no one else. I tend to be an introvert as well so I know how that feels, always make sure you give yourself that quiet time to rest and be alone. It will energize you and give you confidence when you are ready to be surrounded by others. And good on you for keeping an eye on that head space! 99% of the time we are our own obstacles in the way of achieving our dreams. Couldn't agree more.     2014 is going to be quite a year, of this I am sure.
    In 2013 I went through some personal challenges and asked the Universe to assist me in growth.
    I was spending some time in coastal Oregon and stood at the edge of the ocean and cried out to the sea. My words were, "Okay give it to me. I want to be the best version of myself. I am ready to do the work/"
    I knew that challenges would come, because that is how we grow new muscles and grow in spirit. I just didn't realize how intensely I might be challenged and how full circle life truly is. We go through situations that prepare us for moments in our future.
    I've been studying the Tao for a few years now and the practice of it has never been more pertinent then now.
    At the end of 2013, in December after a very difficult pregnancy I gave birth to a beautiful little girl. Upon returning home from the hospital I had one of my "pregnancy headache episodes". I was taken to the ER and it was soon discovered I had a large brain tumor.
    As I lay on the bed, surrounded by my family and new baby (and still recovering from child birth), a peace washed over me. I didn't cry, I really didn't react much at all. I was told I would be admitted and soon go in for brain surgery.
    Something inside me grew strong and I knew to accept would be the first step in this journey.
    I was admitted and was fortunate to be allowed to have my baby room with me and continue nursing. My partner, Z, has been an amazing rock and father and my family a`support I couldn't do without.
    So a few days after giving natural birth I went in for major brain surgery. I was told that I could come out of surgery with paralysis and possible blindness, but again I felt no fear.
    After a five hour surgery and a blood transfusion I came out of surgery and into ICU.
    Fortunately I recovered quickly. I attribute this to years of a healthy nutritional life and fitness. I have been a vegetarian almost 18 years and always cycled, run, rock climbed, etc. Mostly though I believe it has been my will and mental focus that has sustained me through all of this. The Tao says, "The most powerful weapon is the will" and I concur. If I would let the negative possibilities enter my mind I believe these would've manifested.
    I was up the day of surgery and out of ICU in two days and went home soon after.
    Unfortunately the tumor was malignant. So I do have stage 4 brain cancer. Yesterday I began radiation and chemo.
    There have been some scary moments and times I feel the tests of strength I asked for that day on the beach, but I am learning so much about myself, the kindness of others and how important the human spirit is.
    2014 HEALTH and WELLNESS GOAL: To stay positive and focused. To strengthen my will and choose LOVE, LIGHT and POSITIVITY even in dark times and with negative moments. How I am doing this: acknowledging gratefulness each day. Soaking in the love from my children and family and partner. Making myself go for walks and lift weights even when I don't feel like it. Drinking my green smoothies, starting yoga, learning Spanish in my down times, taking Tao online classes, meditating and giving to others.
    This will not get me down or defeat me. I am strong and when I am weak, my God is strong for me.
    There are so many, many people suffering around us. Hurting and sick. Please share a smile and a positivity. It makes a world of difference.

You are so absolutely inspiring, your courage incomparable, and your fearlessness beyond admirable. I just read this aloud to my Mom and sister and we all cried, not out of pity but out of complete inspiration and awe of the beautiful strength of such an incredible woman. I'm so sorry that you are not applicable for the contest but I would love to stay in touch and continue to check in throughout your recovery.   4. My health and wellness goal for 2014 is to embrace exercise and healthy living as a lifestyle as opposed to something I do for thirty minutes at a time! I realised that good health and exercise should be fun and so I've embraced activities that I enjoy such as yoga and swimming. To keep me motivated I'm signing up for a half marathon!     I've compiled some challenges for my family and me
    Challenge one will be:
    A family dance-off on the Wii.
    Healthy challenge number two:
    More fruits and veggies -long overdue!
    Challenge three leaves me puffing,
    Exercises for body buffing!
    Challenge number four:
    Soft drinks, cordials, out the door.
    Challenge five just for dad,
    Quit smoking, you won't go mad!
    Challenge six swap white to brown,
    Helps keep the GI down.
    Challenge seven awaits,
    Hit the pavement on skates!
    Challenge eight have more giggles,
    Really tightens all that jiggles.
    Challenge nine swap more for less,
    Its the hardest, I confess! :)
    Challenge ten, last not least
    Only one chocolate, NOT a feast!

    I have gained extra 10kg during my second pregnancy which i want to loose - i have started running 5k parkrun every saturday. My fitness and well being goal for 2014 is to loose 10kg and run a 10k event with my son. My goal also includes eating more fruit & vegetables, little processed food and regular exercise and set an example for my kids about healthy living.

    I have put on 8kgs since givivng up smoking. My goal is to lose that and stick to it. I have lost 3kgs so far so am well on my way :)

I've gone through quite a lot in the past in regards to my health, and I've finally decided that 2014 is the year for me to actually listen to my body and help it in all the ways it needs. My main goal is to become the most healthy version of myself, and this involves discovering natural ways to help heal my body. I have always been interested in coaching others in reaching their health and fitness goals, and so it's about time I do the same for myself.
